Junk

In the grimy underbelly of East Vancouver’s hip hop scene you can find plenty of dirt and trash, but you will find only one JUNK. This saturated gutter contains a sea of "rappers" and few rise to the top. Only the cream of the crop are recognized. With lightning quick chops, mind blowing lyricism, and razor sharp freestyles, Junk is quickly eclipsing those in the upper echelon of this so called pecking order. Junk’s establishing himself as a top tier artist, not only in Vancouver, but in Canadian hip hop.

Junk started out in the Vancouver rap scene primarily rocking house parties and battle rapping in legendary KOTD battles. He’s a four time winner of Vancouver's Rent Money freestyle competition and the Canadian National champion of the infamous End Of The Weak freestyle competition founded by KRS-one. He was the two time provincial champion and took third place finish in the World finals. Junk beat out thirteen other countries in this prestigious rap competition held in Paris, France. It is undeniable that Junk is a master of the art of lyricism and true free styling. As a member of the Vancouver group Northwest Division (NWD) and as a solo artist with 3 releases under his belt, Junk is an artist on a mission. With tongue twisting verbal imagery and neck breaking flows, Junk raises the bar on competition with every sentence he conjures. Combined with an electrifying live show, he is an example of a true artist that embraces his dark creative side while moving the crowd with pin point rhythmic precision.

Ian was born outside of Frankfurt, Germany and moved to rural Canada at the age of eight after living in Italy and Germany for the first part of life. English became his third language, and Junk can actually rap in his native tongues, German and Italian, as well as English. He’s rocked stages and radio shows throughout Europe and his Italian father is a platinum record selling artist in Italy. Ian spent many of his younger years travelling through backstage Italy with his Dad on tour, giving him a taste of what life on the road would entail. Junk’s natural talent along with an early exposure to the music industry plays a strong role in his music career today.

Junk has recently signed to Snak the Ripper’s label Stealth Bomb Records and released his latest full length LP under the label titled (JUNK - I.A.N.). Inevitably teaming up with Snak’s longtime affiliation groups of Stompdown Killaz and Ephin as well by signing on as the newest member to the movement.

Junk has shouldered Yelawolf, Royce Da 5”9, Rittz, Souls of Mischief, Ghostface, Action Bronson, Raekwon, Method Man, Freddie Gibbs, Tech N9ne, Sean Price and MGK to name a few. This 28 year old is poised to not only make his mark, but decapitate the competition, while stunning audiences around the world with skills few rappers can touch. Rappers can talk all the trash they want, but they better beware of Junk.
